Thought of the Day

"A truly humble man is sensible of his natural distance from God; of his dependence on Him; of the insufficiency of his own power and wisdom; and that it is by God's power that he is upheld and provided for, and that he needs God's wisdom to lead and guide him, and His might to enable him to do what he ought to do for Him." — Jonathan Edwards

Memorial Day

"Freedom isn't free." I've heard the phrase many times, seen it on T-shirts, bumperstickers and even a blanket in my room. But I wonder what difference that makes in the lives of those not directly involved with the military. I don't care whether or not you support our war in Iraq; I don't care if you don't support American democracy (although if you don't I'd be glad to provide you with a one-way ticket to North Korea...), and I don't care if you don't view yourself with patriotism or American pride. You should still treat our troops with the respect they deserve. We should still keep them in our thoughts, praying for their safety and strength, as well as salvation for many. It's because of the blood, sweat, and tears of millions of soldiers, past and present, that we are able to live in a free country like we do. All that to say, thank God for our troops, and keep them in your prayers. Never forget.
